After nearly 35 years of private event consulting and 20 plus years of PGA tournament consulting, we will hang our hat on our last event; The John Deere Classic. After impacting 28 tournaments on three PGA Tours (PGA, Korn Ferry and Champions) we are live on site and helping our last contract. When we were asked to help back in 2017 by Zack Johnson (with help from Damon Green) to bring change to a tent that was lacking to what is now considered the "gold standard" for the tour. Our plan is to continue making changes and help the rest of the tournament with new sponsors and new ways to defray costs and give more to charity. This is our last event and will not be open to consulting for other events going forward.
Our agency business is officially closed as well. After working with countless events and 38 players we have notified our existing partners we are no longer assisting in bringing the top talent to their events. We will end that part of the business with Mark Calcavecchia at the 36th annual Lennox Quakerdale Invitational Pro/Am tournament in August 2024. It was a great ride as well but is too time consuming as we enjoy retirement more and more.
This is quite the journey. When I was growing up I would raise money for charity by doing walk a thons. Then in college I did dance marathons. There was always a fascination with the MD charity and what Jerry Lewis would achieve.
Golf tournaments are a great vehicle for fundraising if done properly. In my adult life I played in my share of them. I had a friend give me the use of his golf course for an afternoon. I charged friends and family $40 each to come play golf until dark. We raised money for the Animal Rescue League and my attraction to this was off to the races.
Our company consulted for PGA Tour stops in Silvis, Illinois, Sioux Falls, SD and Des Moines Iowa. We have visited and researched at dozens of other PGA, Champions or Korn Ferry stops at their request or in trade for meals and special access to give ideas on how to make caddie amenities a vehicle to raising money for the charity and not a cost to the tournaments.
It is truly embarrassing how some events treat caddies, especially when with a short course of advice, good meals, cash sponsors, offsite amenities and much more are easily added to events and a huge way of getting smaller companies in the community involved. This acts as a vehicle for ground root involvements that can only help the survival in the long term for the event. The same can be put in place for veteran tent areas, volunteer amenities and more.
We offer the option to come and put this process in place at your event and be onsite to make sure it all comes together plus train someone to run with this process in the future. Or we can come and work with staff and advise for a one time charge; companies that are open to this type of involvement and get the first few sponsors in place.
If it is a local golf event, or not for profit gathering, a PGA tournament or fundraiser for animals or kids or whatever your passion is.....contact us with questions. You might be very surprised how easy and inexpensive our help would be.
Remember, its our passion as well!
Oh.....and if you have an event that would be more special with the appearance of a PGA Champions Tour player to do a clinic, speak, hit some shots.....we can cover that too!
